Soccer Edge ("Edge," "we," "us," or "our") operates the edge.soccer website and the Soccer Edge mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and organization affiliation. Coaches and administrators may also provide a phone number.

Player & Family Information: Administrators and parents enter player information during registration, which may include:

Player name, date of birth, gender, and age group
Guardian/parent names, email addresses, and phone numbers
Emergency contact information
Medical conditions, allergies, and medications (provided voluntarily for player safety)
Shirt size, preferred position, and soccer experience

Payment Information: If your club enables online payments via Stripe, payment card details are processed directly by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.

Game & Practice Data: Coaches may record game statistics (substitutions, goals, playing time), practice attendance, and player performance ratings.

Photographs: If your organization enables team photo albums, coaching staff and the parents of players on a team can upload photographs to that team's albums. These photographs commonly show minors. We store the image file together with a record of who uploaded it and when. We do not tag or label the people in a photograph, we do not run facial recognition on photographs, and we do not use them to train any model.

Device Information: We collect standard device information including device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and analytics.

Location: The app may request location access to identify which field you are at. Location is not stored or tracked over time.

Camera & Microphone: Used only for live game streaming when initiated by the user. Stream data is processed by Mux for video delivery.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Service (team management, scheduling, communication, registration)
To process registrations and payments through your club
To enable coaches to track game and practice data
To send notifications about games, practices, and club announcements
To let a team share photographs with its own coaches, players and families
To provide AI-powered coaching assistance (session planning, drill suggestions)
To improve the Service and fix bugs

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

Information is shared only in these limited circumstances:

Within your organization: Coaches and administrators in your club can see player and family information relevant to their role.
Within your team: A photograph uploaded to a team album is visible to the coaching staff, players and guardians associated with that team, and to your organization's administrators. We do not publish team albums on any public page.
Service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Auth0 — authentication and login
- Stripe — payment processing (if enabled by your club)
- Mux — live video streaming and playback
- Anthropic Claude / Azure OpenAI — AI coaching features (drill generation, session planning, post-game reports — no personal player data is sent to AI models)
- SendGrid — email delivery
- Microsoft Azure — cloud hosting and database
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

4. Data Security

We take data security seriously, especially given that our platform handles information about minors.

All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
Data is stored in Microsoft Azure with enterprise-grade security
Access is controlled through JWT authentication and organization-level boundaries — users can only access data within their own club
Payment card data is handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant) and never touches our servers
Biometric data (Face ID / fingerprint) is processed entirely on your device and never transmitted to our servers

Photographs are held in private storage. There is no permanent public address for a picture: when you open an album, each photo is served through a temporary link created for that viewing, which stops working a few hours later. A link copied out of the app will expire with it.

5. Children's Privacy

Our Service stores information about youth soccer players, including minors under 13. This information is provided by parents/guardians or club administrators — not by children directly. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. Player accounts are managed by their parent/guardian or club administrator.

Photographs are handled on the same footing. They are uploaded by coaching staff or by the parents of players on the team, never by players themselves. An organization can switch team photo albums off entirely. A parent can remove any photograph they uploaded at any time, and coaching staff can remove any photograph in their team's albums. If you want a photograph of your child taken down and you did not upload it yourself, contact your club's administrator or us directly and we will remove it.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your club's account is active. If a club discontinues use of the Service, we will delete or anonymize all associated data within 90 days of written request. Individual users can request deletion of their personal data at any time.

Photographs: Removing a photo takes it out of the album immediately, for everyone, and deletes the image file from our storage. We keep a record that the photo existed — who added it and when it was removed — because that record is what we rely on if a removal is ever queried. The picture itself is gone. Deleting an album does the same for every photo in it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you or your child
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and associated data
Export your data in a portable format
Opt out of non-essential communications
Request removal of a photograph showing you or your child

8. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
