Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Soccer Edge cost?

Soccer Edge is offered at cost to nonprofit youth soccer clubs. No per-player fees, no licences, no contracts. Running the platform itself — registration, rosters, scheduling, coaching tools — is typically under $100/month for a full club, against $9,000–$15,000/year for commercial platforms. Video is the exception and is billed separately on usage: streaming, storage and delivery are metered by Mux and Azure, they scale with how much you stream and how long you keep it, and a large club streaming every game can run a real bill. We pass those through with no markup — see what video actually costs.

What cameras work with Soccer Edge streaming?

Soccer Edge supports Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) streaming. Stream from your phone or any RTMP-compatible camera. No proprietary hardware or per-player subscriptions required.

How does the live game tracker work?

The game tracker lets coaches manage substitutions, track playing time, and record game events from their phone. It automatically calculates fair playing time percentages and parents can follow along with real-time score updates — no app download needed.

Does Soccer Edge replace PlayMetrics, TeamSnap, or SportsEngine?

Yes. Soccer Edge covers registration, family portals, team management, waivers, credentials, scheduling, messaging, fees, and website building — all the admin features — plus payment plans, custom forms, roster import and calendar sync — and coaching tools like game tracking, formation building, practice ratings and AI-assisted drill planning that commercial platforms don't offer.

Can we host tournaments in Soccer Edge?

Yes. Tournament hosting ships built-in — create a tournament, add divisions, register your teams, generate a single-elimination bracket, and report scores from inside Edge. No need to bounce families out to a separate tournament tool. Pool play, jamboree formats, double-elimination brackets and season-long multi-club leagues are all built in too, sharing the same field scheduler, referee assignments and discipline tracking.

Can parents watch games live?

Yes. When a coach streams a game, parents get a shareable link to watch live from any browser — no app download or subscription needed. Streams are automatically saved for replay.

What AI features does Soccer Edge include?

AI-powered drill library search, automatic practice session planning by age group, game video analysis, and EdgeBot — an AI coaching assistant for drills, tactics, and player development questions. AI features are billed on usage at cost, with a per-organization budget you set.

Does Soccer Edge work for a high school program?

Yes, and it runs in a different mode for it. A school roster arrives from the school and most of those players have no parent with an account, so the athlete holds the account and the parent is optional — the reverse of a club. Grade replaces age group everywhere it would appear, and the club-only machinery — registration fees, tryout evaluations, availability — switches off per organization.

How does Soccer Edge handle adults messaging players?

An adult cannot open a private one-to-one conversation with a child, and that is not a setting anyone has to remember to switch on. Messaging a player adds that player's guardians to the conversation. Where there is no guardian on file — the normal case in a school — the conversation is visible to organization administrators instead, and a line saying so is posted into the thread before either person writes anything. Player-to-player direct messages are not offered at all. Administrators have a dedicated screen for reviewing supervised conversations, and every read is logged.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Soccer Edge has a native iOS and Android app purpose-built for field-side coaching. Track games, manage subs, stream video, and access drills — even with spotty connectivity.
